Happy Father’s Day
It’s Father’s Day weekend. Time to celebrate our love for Dad. Time to celebrate the bad dad jokes, the lessons learned, the moments made together that we will never forget. Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there.
There are many fathers who have passed through the gates of Villa Jewel Resort and all have left an impression. One such father we remember with a tear in our eye and a tug at our heart. We remember, Errol, who worked so very hard cleaning and preparing the property so we could build. He worked all during the construction of the resort until completion. A proud father who worked so very hard so his children could get a better education than he did. He always had a charming smile and time to talk and lend a hand where needed. Errol was taken much too young by a raging sea when he was fishing to put food on the family table.
Only now, can I think of Errol without tears coming to my eyes. I think about that huge smile of his. I remember the way he gently held Darette’s face after their vows. I recall the love and pride he showed for his children and family. Memory Eternal, Errol.
Then, there is Waba. He has been one of our champions since the day we met. He has such a brilliant mind. His authority in the community ensured we were treated fairly. He introduced us to many people that have helped us in our journey and have now become friends. He introduced us to his brother Ralston who is one of our favourite people. He employs many young people from the community and gives them all a lot of fatherly guidance. We are always taking guests to the Blue Hole Mineral Springs for the attractions, events and to meet Waba. He brings guests and friends over to enjoy a snorkel or to watch the sun set on the sea. He is like the Ambassador of Brighton.
Ralston has held many titles with us during the construction, but now we like to call him friend. He is such a caring, fun loving and intelligent father. Ralston is that guy everyone in the community goes to for help and advice. He has taught his children the importance of family, work and community pride. He is always there for his children and family and leads by example.
So many other Dads in the community deserve a mention. Mr. P who we bought the land from. Bongo and Illa who stay and work at Villa Jewel Resort to keep us safe and the gardens in pristine condition. Roxy, Clinton, Reg, BJ, Tony, Junior, Omar and the list goes on. All of these great dads are from the community and we wish them all a very Happy Father’s Day.
To my own family, Happy Father’s Day to my Dad in Heaven. You have been gone too long and are dearly missed. To my dear husband – thank you for the two wonderful boys who you grew into men. Thank you to my youngest son, who is now the father of two happy healthy sons – you made me a Baba first. To my oldest son who will become a father later this year – Happy Father’s Day.
