Happy Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day !
How do we celebrate our Mom if we can’t visit her and have to keep our social distance from her? Having to avoid all non-essential contact to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, many families won’t get to spend time with their mom on Mother’s Day. During these uncertain times remember to put mom’s safety first. Plans and events may have to change but we are all up for the challenge. Let’s just make her feel loved.
Here’s a few ideas:
Cards – Send a card in the mail or through a delivery service. Get all the grand babies to make a card and send them to Gramma. She will love getting so many cards. Have the kiddies make their own cards at home and give to Mama.
Flowers – Make sure you wire her some flowers if you can’t take them over yourself. Our local flower shops have also been struggling and are ready to help you with your orders. Instead of a one time delivery, surprise Mom with 3 months of deliveries. Buy her a hanging strawberry basket – the gift that keeps on giving. They say sooner or later we will all quote our mother – that is just what I did.
Edibles – send an edible bouquet or gift basket. Mom may not have been getting out as much as before and would appreciate fresh fruits or perhaps a basket of her favourite snacks and goodies. If she lives on her own, arrange for a weekly delivery from her favourite restaurant. Just because Mom is the best cook -EVER – doesn’t mean she always wants to cook.
Gifts – order something special online and especially from a local business. Have it delivered before Mother’s Day and make her feel special.
Video Calls – get the whole family involved and set up a video conference with Mom or Gramma. Just make sure you call her so she can hear your voice and spend plenty of air time with her.
Home Spa – deliver a gift basket for a home spa. If you can visit Gramma go over and wash and style her hair, throw in a home dye or rinse and give her a mini mani and pedi. Get a basket of bath salts, essential oils, bubble bath, a new nail polish for Mom and set up a mini spa at home for her as well. Make her feel like the queen she is.
Grammas – This is especially for our grandmothers and great grandmothers who may be held up in a lodge or on their own during this pandemic. Arrange to call her before bedtime and have her read a bedtime story to her grand babies or if they are old enough, have them read a story to Gramma. When you get the opportunity, go visit her in person.
Let’s hope that we can all be with our mothers soon. Many of us became the strong women we are because of the strong women who raised us. Give Mom your love any way you can.
