How We are Dealing with Covid-19
No doubt about it – travel and tourism has been hit hard, very hard, by the current coronavirus pandemic. Our private little resort in Jamaica included! Lockdowns, isolation, social distancing, closed borders, travel bans and flight restrictions have all put a halt to the travel and tourism industry. Our doors are shut tight right now. We hope to hear good news soon about an end to this pandemic.
Villa Jewel Resort locked up for now
Jamaica has imposed travel restrictions on all travellers from Iran, China, South Korea, Italy, Singapore, Germany, France and the UK. Anyone arriving from other countries will be required to self quarantine for 14 days.
A new 14 day curfew, effective April 22, 2020 was announced by PM Andrew Holness. The curfew is from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am. Work hours have been restricted to 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Supermarkets, pharmacies and corner shops will be allowed to close at 5:00 pm. Markets are to operate from 6:00 am – 4:00 pm and will be closed on Sundays. And, all Jamaicans are to wear a mask in public spaces. The current number of infected cases was 223. Let’s keep those numbers down Jamaica.
Our little resort will remain closed until further notice. We miss our guests. But we also miss being with our friends and family in the community. We will stay at home. We will work from home. We will pray from home. Once the curfews and restrictions are lifted we will be happy to be with everyone in the community. We look forward to welcoming home previous guests and welcoming new faces to the community.

I recently saw a video on instagram of Negril. A 2 minute video of the roundabout, with no people, no traffic, not a soul moving about in Negril. It was eerie, because we all know about that bustling roundabout and to see it so empty was mind boggling. It was apocalyptic without destruction.
That’s how we are doing in Jamaica. Stay safe, stay home, be smart.
