Choose a Boutique Resort

There are many reasons to choose a boutique resort.  Here are some ideas on why you should choose Villa Jewel on the Rocks boutique resort for your next Jamaican vacation, and not a massive resort.

We are awesome.  Period.  Yes, I may be a little biased here, but I do think boutique resorts can offer you so much more than the massive cookie cutter resort can.  Sure they are big, have many pools, many restaurants, buffet food, swim up bars, organized activities, many rooms and a large property, hopefully with good views.  These can also be cons.

But, here’s what you should not overlook about the mega resort. They are loud.  Unlucky you if you are there for some honeymoon romance and privacy along with the binge boozing spring break crowds.  Unlucky you if you want peace and quite when the speakers are shaking by the pool blasting out ‘music’.  

Large resorts are crowded.  You wait in line for most everything.  You wait in line to catch a bus to get there.  You wait in line for meals, a drink, to book an activity, for towels – for service.  How many times have you heard, we didn’t have a room when we checked in because they overbooked.  Yikes.  Then what?

How about having to wake up before sunrise to save a chair on the beach or by the pool – have you every had to do this?  Guilty!  Or, how about that person who spent all day in the water at the swim up bar and never left to use the facilities.  Just saying.

A lot of restaurants does not mean its all good food.  Lacklustre buffet food, inability to get a reservation in the better restaurant, or ‘sorry sir’ you have the wrong wristband.  Not what you were expecting.

At Villa Jewel Resort we offer an all-inclusive authentic Jamaican vacation.  You will be picked up from the airport in a private vehicle and arrive to a check-in cocktail and cool towel.  After check in you will meet with the chef to go over a menu plan if you have any dietary restrictions, allergies or on a special diet.  Once you are shown to your large unique room with breathtaking views of the sparkling Caribbean Sea, its time for you to start enjoying your vacation.  Each room has a different view of the Sea, large ensuite with massive counters, king bed and a private balcony.  All are decorated with locally handcrafted furniture, keeping it Jamaican.

We have a mineral water swimming pool.  Every time you go into the pool, its a spa treatment.  There are no chemicals used in the pool, only clear, natural mineral spring water.  If the water starts to color, we drain, clean and refill.  The minerals in the spring water act as a natural chemical and disinfectant.  Plenty of room by the pool even if we are full.  Speaking of spa treatments, make sure you book a massage in the WaterBird Gazebo by the sea.

You will not have to wait for a drink at the SeaBreeze & Lime lounge.  Most times the bartender is looking for you anxious for you to try the drink of the day or a cool Red Stripe.

Our small scale resort has the ability to create quality meals with the freshest organic ingredients.  Produce is sourced from local farms and some from our own organic gardens, with the menu changing according to seasonal ingredients.  Jamaican inspired cuisine is served every meal in the open-air dining area, garden gazebos – basically we will serve you where you want to eat.  The service is exceptional and you will not go hungry.

The catch of the day is brought in by our local fishermen.  We never really know what we are getting but the chef will always prepare a mouth watering meal featuring the catch of the day.  We can arrange a fishing trip with a local fisherman and you can even bring home tonight’s fish feature.
