Sista Jan’s Next Visit to Villa Jewel Resort
This is a continuation of guest blogger Sista Jan as she reflected on her second visit to Villa Jewel Resort.
My next visit was April 2016 – with Baba Poo and Papa Poo – by now I am seasoned traveler (NOT). Drove the “ocean highway” again spectacular as it followed the sea. Travelled through villages and towns and saw the resorts along 7 mile beach.
The anticipation of driving from Negril Spot to Brighton! The turn to Villa Jewel and seeing the ornate gate and Villa Jewel with the sea behind was like coming home.
This trip we stayed at Villa Jewel mid-construction. The Building had been erected and a couple of rooms completed for our visit.
The Staff at Villa Jewel were outstanding. The Jamaican fare meals were delightful – all prepared with local ingredients.
Baba Poo was very busy with matters dealing with completion of Villa Jewell.
I was in vacation bliss – here was my typical day:
Some highlights were:
A lot of crying the day of our departure – Villa Jewel is truly my HAPPY PLACE
(I would like to add how she was bitten up by mosquitos and had welts all over her legs. Shoulders were sunburnt and legs full of itchy welts. “Jan are you enjoying yourself?” “Absolutely best holiday ever!” Oh boy, she don’t travel much. Actually, what a great guest to have – she never complained about any of this and was willing to try just about anything. To keep her happy we made sure she had plenty of company, we fed her well and kept her hydrated – water, coffee, liquor and not necessarily in that order. Have I mentioned that she doubled on the back of Ralston’s motorcycle for a ride back from the Blue Hole Mineral Springs. She apparently has never been on a motorcycle and was deathly afraid. Rally said she was a perfect passenger – she never moved, didn’t even turn her head or lift an arm to wave.)
(More info – I must say, the Jamaican men were very interested in “Gary’s sister”. We had a lot of male visitors while she was with us. They would come and sit for hours and talk with her or wait for her to come out of her room. There was the occasional hand holding and everyone wanted to dance with her. In fact, one evening a local gentleman had to be escorted off the property because she was not interested in his advances. Our kitchen staff instructed Titan to sleep outside Miss Janet’s door before they left with her admirer. That is exactly what Titan did. He and Sheba spent the night on Miss Janet’s balcony! They really are good guard dogs.
Did I mention, Sista Jan is married. I am glad she had a blast and look forward to her next visit to Villa Jewel. I hope she returns soon. Now she will be able to enjoy it even more. Construction is 99% complete, the mineral water swimming pool is steps from”her room” and this time the chefs will be cooking in the kitchen not on the balcony or behind the bar.)
All of the staff at Villa Jewel Resort ask ‘when is Miss Janet coming back?’ We hope soon!
‘The ocean stirs the heart, inspires imagination and brings eternal joy to the soul.’
